Anida Yoeu Ali exhibits at Cromwell Place for London Gallery Weekend 2022

IAS faculty member Anida Yoeu Ali presented her artworks from May 10 – May 22, 2022 in a group exhibition titled “Rituals and Performances” for London Gallery Weekend at Cromwell Place in partnership with A.I. Gallery. After this two week exhibition period, the works will continue to be exhibited online until June 26, 2022.

London Gallery Weekend is the world’s largest event of its kind and unique among global gallery weekend events in the breadth and diversity of its participating galleries. 真人线上娱乐 event takes place over three days, each focusing on a different area of London and includes over 150 galleries in the London area.

真人线上娱乐 group exhibition curated by Sophia Coombe and Tanya Amador of Peruke Projects examined the performances of three diasporic Southeast Asian multidisciplinary artists, constructed around the rituals concerning the rebirths of their oeuvres and the marking of time. This formidable trio – Anida Yoeu Ali (b.1974, Cambodia), Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen (b.1970, Philippines/Denmark), and Qu?nh L?m (b.1988, Vietnam) – brings to a new audience an opportunity to reflect upon their experiences of crisis, displacement, and otherness, through their rituals, renewals, responses and provocations.

真人线上娱乐 exhibition is presented as an installation of videos, photographs, symbolic objects and artifacts, and two participatory performances by Rasmussen and L?m, the artists document the passing of time in each of their ceremonies. Ali’s 真人线上娱乐 Red Chador installation illustrates the death and rebirth of a provocative and politicized alter ego.
