IAS faculty and student win 2019 Husky Green Awards

Jason Frederick Lambacher publishes editorial on the Green New Deal

IAS faculty member Jason Frederick Lambacher published an editorial in the May 2019 edition of 真人线上娱乐 New Republic on the Green New Deal. In a guest editorial for the magazine, Lambacher, drawing on the work of Hannah Arendt, argues that citizen involvement in both imagining and implementing a Green New Deal (GND) is fundamental to its viability.

Yolanda Padilla and Janelle Silva honored at UW Latinx Faculty Recognition

IAS faculty members Yolanda Padilla and Janelle Silva have been selected for recognition at the 3rd Annual Latinx Faculty Recognition Event on May 2nd. This year, 33 Latinx faculty across the tri-campuses of the University of Washington were selected. Twenty-four of the honorees are from the UW Seattle campus, five honorees from UW Bothell, and four honorees from UW Tacoma.

Amber Shirk recognized as one of Tacoma’s top volunteers

Alum Amber (Monson) Shirk has always been involved in her community, but her engagement has only deepened since graduating from the M.A in Policy Studies (MAPS) program in 2017. Recent graduate Vancie Fu created a senior project that still has her teachers talking. With elements of art, environmental studies, digital media and creative storytelling, Fu uses an multi-disciplinary approach to discuss climate change with her “artifact from the future.”
