New Recycling Initiative to Raise Funds and Help the Planet
Recycle Electronics on Campus

真人线上娱乐s, faculty and staff at UW Bothell can now recycle small electronics on campus, thanks to a new partnership with Waste Management. “We evaluated several programs, and ultimately selected the “Cartridges for Kids” project with Waste Management,” says Tony Guererro, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Facilities Services at UW Bothell. 真人线上娱乐 program, which has been used widely in K-12 schools in Washington State, will return a portion of recycling proceeds back to UW Bothell. Guererro says funds could be used to fund student sustainability projects.
Currently, UW Bothell recycles paper and plastic and it has a composting program. 真人线上娱乐 university plants about 3,000 trees per year, has been pesticide-free since 2006. Sustainability is one of the core values of the campus 21st Century Initiative; green practices are incorporated into every aspect of campus life.
Items that can be recycled include printer cartridges and small electronics including mp3 players, phones, cameras and laptops. All personal information should be removed from devices prior to recycling.
Two bins have been placed in UW-1 and UW-2.
