Excellence in Education Scholarship

This School of Nursing and Health Studies scholarship provides the opportunity to demonstrate a commitment to the application of knowledge learned through studies to make a positive impact in practice within a professional or community setting.  

Eligibility criteria: Accepted to one of the following programs: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Arts in Health Studies, Master of Nursing or Master of Science in Community Health and Social Justice. Enrolled in part-time or full-time credits for the quarter the award is dispersed and in good academic standing (cumulative GPA of 2.0 undergraduate/cumulative GPA of 3.0 graduate).?

Instructions: Submit a narrative between 250-500 words, describing how you have applied knowledge gained from your program to create positive change?that reflects the?School of Nursing & Health Studies Mission. 

Evaluation of submission:??

• Provides?1-2 examples of how?course content?was used or will be used,?to implement?positive change in?a?professional or?community?setting. This can be a theoretical concept, class project, CBLR or COIL assignment, fieldwork, etc. (include course title).?

  • Progress towards social equity
  • Change in health policy
  • Work in health advocacy
  • Developing community partnerships?and/or engagement
  • Improved health literacy
  • Local to global practice
  • Created and/or improved inclusive health processes and outcomes
  • Engaged in an effort to apply learning to practice
